| KATANA TAIRA-GENSHIN-UE-NAMI-UMAYOSHI
Sugata: Shinogi-Zukuri GENDAI-TO This is an unusually nice Gendaito katana made on a lucky day, approximately 1910. It features an very atypical hada, bilateral bo-hi and highly detailed dragon horimono carved into each side. Most gendai blades, like shishinto, exhibit a hada which is so small or tight it can barely if at all be seen, referred to as muji hada. This Katana exhibits a beautiful Itame hada. The hamon is gunome in nie-deki. Many beautiful hatarake are seen including ji-nie, aura-nie, chikie, yubashiri, nie-saki, sumegane, inazuma and sunagashi. This sword is in great polish, and comes in top quality shirasaya, with a one piece gold foil Mito style habaki. While at first glance the price may seem inflated for a gendaito again, this is not your typical gendaito. Average Yasukuni blades sell for this every day. When you consider the unusual high quality forging of the hada, the numerous activity found in the hamon, the detail in the bo-hi and horimono, polishing costs, high quality shirasaya and habaki, this beautiful sword a very good deal. $8000 USD SOLD
