An excellent Naginata Naoshi attributed to the Shimada den or school by the NBTHK.  The Shimada school was founded by Yoshisuke, brother of Shimada Sukemune who lived in Suruga provenance in the mid 1500's.   Suruga province is adjacent to Sagami province and though the Shimada school was not one of the Gokaden, they had close ties with the Soshu school. 

This gorgeous Naginata Naoshi features itame with mokume hada and a beautiful hamon with a multitude of activities, such as sunagashi, kinsuji, tobiyaki, hakekake, etc.. 

The sword comes with a one piece solid silver habaki and a premium shirasaya with ivory hatome.
